Coverage
On smooth surfaces, approximately 35 sq. ft. (37–55 m2) per 12oz can.
Where to Use
For use on exterior wood surfaces: New or reconditioned wood decks,
lattice, spindles, outdoor furniture, steps, railings, fences,
siding, mailboxes, planters and benches.
Preparing Your Surfaces
Read the Lead Warning paragraph. Be sure surface is free of all dirt,
mildew stains, loose wood fibers and other foreign matter. Surfaces
must be sound and absolutely dry. Avoid spraying in windy conditions.
(Moisture content must be below 15% or wood must be exposed to dry
weather a minimum of 3 to 5 days.) Prepare previously stained or
weathered surfaces with Cabot® Problem-Solver® Wood Cleaner, Wood
Brightener or Wood Strippers. On untreated weathered surfaces,
scrubbing with a stiff bristle brush or sanding may be required to
completely remove all loose wood fibers.
For new and weathered wood surfaces, a light sanding with 80¬–10 grit
sandpaper is recommended to open the pores for maximum penetration.
Use Cabot® Problem-Solver® Wood Stripper #8004 to help remove
oil-based finishes from wood surfaces.
Application
Shake well for at least 1 minute, listening for rattle of mixing ball.
Shake frequently during application. Hold can 8–10 inches from
surface. Move can back and forth, releasing button after each stroke.
Overlap each stroke. Apply 1 coat only. Do not over-apply. Brush in
excess stain as needed. Overspray: Cover nearby
area to protect from spray mist.
Danger: Rags, steel wool or waste soaked with this product may
spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after
use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed, water-filled metal
container. Dispose in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
Dry Time
Approximately 24–48 hours. To prevent can clogging after use, turn
can upside down and press spray head for 3 seconds.
Cleanup and Disposal
Clean up with mineral spirits or VOC compliant brush cleaner. Keep
container closed when not in use. Do not transfer contents to other
containers for storage or disposal. In case of spills, absorb with
inert material such as sand or kitty litter. Dispose of empty
container or unused portion in accordance with local, state and
federal regulations.
