This durable yet flexible alkyd-urethane hybrid system delivers 2-year protection on decks and 4-year protection on fences and siding.

Any loose or damaged wood fibers may be removed with a light sanding.

Mildew:
Any mildew stains present on the surface prior to application should be removed with Penofin® Pro-Tech Cleaner. Mildew stains are not caused by the coating nor do they represent coating failure. This product contains agents that inhibit the growth of mildew on the coating’s film.

Application:
2 coat application is recommended. Stir can thoroughly before use. For best results a pad applicator is recommended over large deck areas or a high quality natural bristle brush.
Penofin® Architectural Grade Hardwood Coating must be applied between 40°F - 90°F. Avoid applying in direct sunlight. Do not use if rain is expected within 24 hours. Surface must be completely dry before application
Do not thin product. Stir occasionally throughout application.
Test product for penetration on a small hidden area before proceeding.
Use of a roller should be limited to rough surfaces only. Use 3/8 nap or longer when appropriate. A high-quality pump sprayer with a 0.015-0.019 tip may be used.
Work in small sections lightly saturating the surface and immediately back brush or use pad applicator to eliminate puddling. Remove excess coating with a dry pad applicator, brush or roller and evenly distribute the finish. Maintain a wet edge when applying. Apply product end to end or to board length to prevent lap marks. Do not over apply, over application will lead to surface failure, poor drying and/or uneven glossy finish.

Recoat Time: Allow 4-6 hours before applying 2nd coat. Allow 72 hours before returning furniture and heavy use.

Dry Time: Approximately 24 hours depending on temperature, humidity and air flow. Wait 72 hours (3 days) before returning furniture and heavy use.

Coverage: Two thin coats are required: 1st coat- 300-400 sq. ft. per gal. 2nd coat- 400-600 sq. ft. per gal.

Do not transfer contents to other containers for storage or disposal. Dry empty containers may be recycled in a can recycling program. Local disposal requirements vary; consult your sanitation department or state-designated environmental agency regarding disposal options.

Maintenance:
Sunlight, rain, snow and dew all take their toll on wood: minimize exposure wherever possible. Keep decks free of standing water. Minimize damage from snow and ice by using a calcium magnesium acetate product.
Sweep and blow leaves and other debris from trees and plants regularly.
Clean regularly each spring and fall with Penofin® Pro-Tech Cleaner and evaluate the finish.
Durability depends upon weather, wear and other local conditions. When the finish sheen looks dull, simply clean the surface and reapply a single coat. Damaged areas can be sanded and touched up as needed in order to maintain appearance.
