SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free of dust, dirt,
excessive chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax, mildew,
wallpaper adhesive, or any contamination that may
interfere with adhesion. Remove any peeling and/or
unsound coatings and loose fibers with a wire brush or
sandpaper. Sand any remaining paint film edges smooth.
Sand glossy painted areas.
COVERAGE
300-400 sq.ft./gal.(7.4-9.8 m2/l)
depending on application method and surface porosity.
WARNING!
If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you
may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO
LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS
BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN.
PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID
EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-Approved respirator to
control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA
vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to
protect yourself and your family by contacting the National
Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to
www.epa.gov/lead.
APPLICATION
Apply only when air, material, and surface temperatures
are between 50-90ºF (10-32ºC) and the relative humidity
is below 85%. Apply with a synthetic (nylon, polyester or
blend) bristle brush, roller, or airless sprayer. Follow
manufacturer's instructions when using spray equipment.
When properly applied, Peel Stop should dry to a slight
sheen. Apply a second coat if dull spots appear. Tinting is
not recommended. Topcoat with any latex or alkyd paint.
To create a more uniform topcoat appearance, prime with
Zinsser Bulls-Eye 1-2-3 Primer or Cover-Stain before
applying topcoat.
LIMITATIONS
Peel Stop is not intended as a substitute for proper
surface preparation or for use on surfaces where paint
failure results from chronic or excessive moisture
intrusion. Peel Stop is not recommended for use on floors,
exterior decks or surfaces subject to immersion or
prolonged contact with water.
DRY TIME
Dries to the touch in 30 minutes and can be primed or
painted in 2 hours. Lower temperatures and higher
humidity can prolong dry time. Allow more time at cooler
temperatures. If conditions do not permit prompt drying,
allow Peel Stop to dry overnight before priming or painting
Do not apply Peel Stop is rain is expected within 8 hours
of priming or topcoating.
CLEAN-UP
Clean up fresh spills and drips with a wet cloth.
Wash application tools in detergent and warm water immediately
after use. Follow equipment manufacturer’s directions to
clean spray equipment. Dispose of unused or unwanted
product in accordance with local laws regulating
water-based coatings.
